EQUINE SURGERY POSITION

Agnes Banks Equine ClinicAgnes Banks Equine Clinic is currently seeking an experienced equine surgeon to join our team. Agnes Banks Equine Clinic is a ten-veterinarian equine only practice that is well staffed with experienced veterinarians, specialists in surgery and internal medicine, interns and nurses. We have a busy surgery, poor performance and lameness caseload with a well-equipped surgery suite and gas inhalation facilities for newborns through to draft horses. We are a diverse equine practice servicing a large clientele of racing, performance, pleasure and breeding clients. The practice is located on the western fringe of Sydney at the foothills of the Blue Mountains, approximately a one hour drive from the Sydney central business district. The position may involve some ambulatory duties.   A veterinary degree registrable in New South Wales is essential. Board certification (ACVS, ECVS or Australian specialty qualification) is desirable, however candidates that are Board eligible will also be considered. The suitable candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and have excellent communication and clinical service attributes.  Willingness to strengthen existing client relations and build and foster new client relationships is expected. The successful applicant would demonstrate the ability to strive for excellence, to deliver cost-effective veterinary care at all levels, and to show productivity commensurate with the salary package offered. This two-day highly practical course covers the theory and practical skills of performing ultrasound-guided orthopaedic injections and ultrasound-assisted minimally-invasive surgery covering all regions of the musculoskeletal apparatus of the horse. Bringing together internationally renowned orthopaedic experts with a strong interest in this field, this course also provides a critical overview of conventional and biologic treatment modalities for orthopaedic conditions. This course is suitable for veterinarians from mixed or equine practice who have experience with ultrasonography. During the afternoons, 7 hours of practical sessions will give attendees plenty of opportunity to practice the different injection techniques on cadavers and specimens and to get tips and tricks in small groups (2 – 4 attendees per ultrasound machine), under the supervision of the specialists. Each attendee will rotate through the following practical stations: Tendon & ligament injections; Stifle, Hip & Shoulder Joint injections; Cervical facet joint injections; Injections of the Back; Lumbosacral & Sacroiliac injections; Injections of Bursae & Ultrasound-assisted Surgery.
